Mike Williams was selected to be included in 100 Southern Artists, by Ashley Rooney, Schiffer Publishing, one in her series of beautiful coffee table books featuring regional artists living in the US. This edition is currently slated to be released in their Fall Catalog and should be available in the spring of 2013 if not before.
Phil Garrett, Painter and Master Printmaker from Greenville, SC is currently writing a How-To Book on Painting Techniques which will feature a number of artists, including myself, focusing on their individual approaches to painting. This highly anticipated book, being published by North Light Books, promises to be a wonderful source of information about painting at the advanced level, offering detailed observations and insights into the working habits of a diverse group of painters, all of whom Phil has been personally associated with over the years.
Two of his paintings: Figure With Fish, 60” X 84” inches, acrylic and ink on canvas, 2011 and At the Core, 72” X 72” inches, oil on linen, 2010 are included in, Abstract Art in South Carolina: 1949 - 2012, a survey of contemporary painting and sculpture by artists who share a connection to the state. This exhibition currently on display in the Lipscomb Gallery, will remain open through August 26, 2012.

The Carolina Connection: Sigmund Abeles, Joseph Cave, Mike Williams at The Cheryl Newby Gallery, Pawleys Island, SC, September 5 - October 10, 2009. This upcoming exhibition will, for the first time, group the works of these notable artists who share a connection to the state of South Carolina. It will be an interesting opportunity to compare and contrast the styles and perspectives inherent in the paintings and drawings that will be shown. The South Carolina State Museum acquired for their collection, one of his works from 2008 titled, "Suspending Forms XVIII", a 60" square painting done in graphite, pastel, acrylic and ink on canvas.

Williams has just completed a commission for a miniature variation of, Big Red (see sculpture gallery), that will make it's home in upstate Virginia right outside D.C.

In 2008, following the purchase of his painting titled, "Revolution", an 80" x 96" tryptch, by the South Carolina Arts Commission, Williams was nominated to the Southern Arts Federation's official online registry of artist living and working in the southeastern region.
